A rescheduled trip to Magpie Yarn in Lexington had to be recancelled due to the 12 to 85 inches of snow dumped all over Ohio on Friday and Saturday. When I really thought about it, it wasn't so much the lack of yarn-buying that I was disappointed about, but the lack of hanging-out-with-friends time. I spent a small amount of time feeling sorry for myself, and then decided to make something of my forced weekend inside.
So,
I finished my Monkey socks. Cherry Tree Hill Supersock, "brights" colorway (an extreme understatement), US2 dpns. Really honestly, this is a fun, easily-memorized pattern. It only took me forever to finish the pair because it is not in my nature to finish pairs of socks. I must search the depths of my sole in order to complete a pair. Really honestly.
I also made one sheep bootie. (From 50 Baby Bootees to Knit.) I found the pieces very quick to knit, and the construction of the top of the bootee is intriguing. However, I absolutely despised knitting the sole of the bootee to the top. I did it about three different times and I'm still not completely sold. Oh well, it's done. The yarn is Knit One Crochet Too Cotonade, bought at Mass Ave a few weekends ago. Needles were double points, size 7s and size 3s. And, is it me, or does this look more like a Snoopy bootee than a sheep bootie?
I also finished the first UK bootee (from Simple Knits for Cherished Babies*). There is nothing totally faboo about this bootee beyond the fact that it is finished. I will have to do a little sole-searching, but hopefully I'll be able to finish its mate by this weekend. Butterfly Mercerized Cotton (blue), Tahki Cotton Classic (white), US size 5 dpns.
*For unlimited mild amusement, tell your friends it's the Cherished Knits for Simple Babies book. Teehee!
