Secrets Revealed!

So, Brenda can't handle my secretivitation, so I've decided to reveal all in this shocking post. It's almost like Jerry Springer, only without the pregnancy. Oh wait! Brenda's pregnant! Go say congratulations. Woo hoo! More baby knitting to be had by all.

(Please ignore the fact that everyone who posts anything on her blog makes fun of me. It's insensitive and cruel, I know, but I think it's the hormones.)

I think at this point I only have two secrets to share, but that's enough for me.

Secret #1

I told you a while ago that I was making a super secret project out of sock yarn, but it wasn't socks. It's actually this hat, which is super fun and easy to make. The stripy part that you see in the picture is the first part of the hat. It's some super-fun Opal sock yarn that I bought a couple years ago. After this stripy hat part is done, I'll take out the provisional cast-on along the bottom and pick up those stitches with the blue yarn you see there and knit another whole hat in the other direction. When I'm finished with that hat, the directions say to "punch one hat into the other" for a double-thick baby hat. Now, if I just knew someone who was having a little baby this fall or winter...

Secret #2

The second secret has to do with the Pomatomus socks. (I don't even have to look up how to spell it anymore.) These (this) socks (sock) are (is) not progressing as well as I'd like them (it) to, mostly because I've been working on my entrelac bag and my little secret baby hat instead. Anywho, the secret of these socks is the recipient. But if I tell you, you have to promise not to say anything, okay? I thought I'd give these socks to Morgan, who always has to put cuteness on her kidlets' feetsies, but never on her own. The coolest part about this surprise is that, since she's never measured her feet for me, I get to guess at how long to make them. Maybe I'll even make one of them way too long and the other way too short! Wouldn't that be hilarious?!?!

Secret #3

Okay, this one isn't really a secret, but I have a theme going. Stick with me. This one has a lot to do with the stash, and how I need to be using it instead of buying more yarn. I usually don't post about the new yarn that I buy, because my mom reads my blog, and she thinks I should use the money for other things, like bills. I have (finally) accepted that she may be correct about this, and so I'm putting myself on a yarn diet. I'm telling this to you because maybe you can keep me accountable.

I'm also looking for ideas of (knitterly) things I have to do before I am allowed to buy more yarn. There will be one exception this summer for Maggie's birthday sweater an annual, mandatory project of great importance. I'm thinking I want to finish at least three projects that are already on the needles, plus use up some of my stash before I can buy more yarn. Any ideas, thoughts, comments, cries of outrage? I know for a fact that Joy has an idea. Something about making Anthony sweeter, but she always spells it with an "a". Sweeter/sweater... I don't know what she's talking about.

Secret #4

(Again, just sticking with the theme, here, folks.) I'm outie here until next week. I'm going to go provide as much support to my parents as I can for the rest of the week, hopefully without getting too much underfoot. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers, please keep it up. I'll try to update if I can, but look for the next meaty post to be early next week some time. Thanks, y'all!

In The Bag

I am convinced (as are most bloggers) that I have the best commenters around. I love getting comments, even when I have to promise people sock yarn in order to boost my comment numbers. I'm fairly certain that my favorite commenter, however, has to be my mom. I mean, no offense to everyone else, but she's the only one who calls me "Cutie" and tells me she loves me in every comment. She's the best.

If you get a chance today (or tomorrow, or the next day), please say a prayer for my mom, who has to keep the doctors straightened out while my dad deals with another painful stay in the hospital. And if you could, say a prayer for my dad as well. Thank you.

-----

In other family news, my
sister-in-law has finally! posted pictures of the kids in their Valentine's finest.
I'm stealing this picture from her, but you still must click the link to Mo's blog to go check out even more pictures of my gorgeous niece and her handsome little brother. Thank you Thank you Thank you, Morgan! (P.S. You still haven't sent me YOUR foot measurements... ;) )

-----

The weekend was crafty and produced yet another nappy bag. I was feeling the sewing urge (and yet, I didn't make any new Henries this weekend...) and remembered having this fabric stashed away for another nappy bag.

Here's the finished bag in all its glory. It's funny, once I get started cutting and sewing one of these, it's hard to stop until it's completely finished.

Here's a close-up of the outside fabric. Perfect for a knitting bag, don't you think? (That's right, kids. I'm not pregnant, nor am I planning to be soon. So this nappy bag will be used as a knitting bag for the time being... thanks for asking.)

And here's a close-up of the inside of the bag. I made the bottle pockets on either end of the bag from the outside fabric, just to mix things up a little. I'm CrAzY!

-----

I also did some knitting. Those of you who doubt me, please take note that I only knitted on the entrelac bag all weekend. I glanced at the Pomatomus sock a couple times, but the bag kept my attention for all of the knitting. Here's an updated picture:

I'm on tier 7 (if that means anything to you), and these green squares are one stitch and a few rows smaller than the previous four tiers, so I'm on my way to the bottom of the bag. I'm very happy at this bag. (Yes, at.) I even bought a couple of zippered pillowcases at Linens and Things last Friday so I will have something to felt it in.

The Linens and Things just happened to be next to a Barnes & Noble, the same B&N that has had the
Yarn Harlot's previous books before anyone else, so of course I had to check it out. They pulled through once again. Any time this weekend that I wasn't sewing or knitting or passed out due to a sinus headache, I was reading her new book. Quality stuff. Pick one up.

Sundry Friday

How come nobody ever says that something is sundry? It's always "various and sundry" even though "various" and "sundry" mean the same thing. It's a crazy world, my friends.

Here's today's Henry. We're nothing if we're not diverse. Henry is Dominican. I recently found out that Henry and Henri are not getting along together. Henry knows some French (he learned in Haiti), but it's not Parisian French, and Henri is a little uppity about that. I'm not the only creative one around here, methinks. (A uniball vision fine point pen works better on felt than a sharpie, in case you ever need to know.)

I forgot a new project yesterday in my list of new cast-ons since mid-January. Remember the two sock yarn projects that I cast on? One is a super-secret sock yarn project that isn't a sock, and the other was a super-secret sock yarn project that was a sock. The super-secret-not-sock project is still on the needles, in fact, it's in my work bag because it's some good mindless knitting for whenever I have time. The super-secret-sock project is also still on the needles, because I'm too lazy to rip it back and re-ball the yarn.

Joy thinks I should tell you who the chocolate cherry socks are for. I think I don't have to because it's my blog, and because maybe the recipient is a Drunken Monkey reader and I don't want said recipient to know that the socks are for her. EEP! Her! I gave away a clue!

Kimmy has started her entrelac bag! I'm really excited because she said we could have a felting party at her house when we're both done, which is good because the only other place I have to felt things is at my parents' house.

Speaking of, my current obsession is the
Great Lakes Fiber Show which for some reason takes place in Wooster, Ohio, my lovely home town. The dates for the show cover Memorial Day weekend, which seems like a perfect time to head northeast. I'm pretty sure I saw signs for this show a few years ago after I had started knitting but before I knew what a fiber show was worth. I have plans to attend this year, for sure. Road trip, anyone?

Know this:
Pomatomus is brilliant. More pictures soon.

It's A Disease

I just went back to double check the mega works-in-progress post to see how well I've progressed in a little over two months. Of the 14 projects listed as works-in-progress on January 17, 2006, four have been completed (including my knitting olympics shawl), one is over halfway in progress, and nine haven't been touched. In the meantime, I've cast on a cable sweater, a biased Mango moon bag, fingerless gloves, and an entrelac bag, and I've also decreased my stash. (How sad is it that I had to go back through the last two months' worth of posts to remember all of that?)

Anyway, all of that to say this: I have a confession to make. I cast on a new pair of socks last night.

The yarn is Claudia's Handpainted in the Chocolate Cherries colorway. I got it from kpixie. They have all sorts of gorgeous one-of-a-kind yarns, and I think I've fallen in love with Claudia's yarn. The pattern is Pomatomus from the Winter 06 Knitty. I've been wanting to try this pattern since it came out a couple of months ago. The pattern is brilliant. I wish you could see this in person. I wish you could touch it and see how beautiful the stitch definition is. I wish you could see the gorgeous colors and love this sock as much as I do. And I'm only halfway through the first repeat.

Oh, and the socks already have a recipient picked out. Don't even ask.

-----

In other news, I'm tormenting a co-worker of mine. She's the newest member of the training staff and very friendly and very fun. She has this hand puppet named Henry that she told me she sometimes likes to put in other people's areas (cubicles, desk drawers, etc.) to surprise them. On Tuesday I found him in my desk drawer. I put him in my bag and took him home. Since then, I have innocently protested every time he is asked about.

Last night I took a trip to Hobby Lobby for some felt and supplies. I'd like to introduce you to Henri Le Main, Henry the Hand's French cousin.

As you can tell, the original Henry the Hand is on the left, and his French cousin is on the right. I never would have guessed how difficult it is to write on felt with a Sharpie marker. And I had to wait until I got into work this morning to look up the French word for "hand".

Anyway, this morning I gave Henri to my manager to give to Kara during our meeting this morning. Kara got all excited thinking that Henry was back, but she's since figured out that Henri is an imposter. This is highly amusing to me. I'm planning on making another "Henry" tonight, only this one will likely be a "Henrietta". I'll be sure to show you pictures tomorrow.

Entrelupdate

I was going to title this post "Entre-Update", but "Entrelupdate" amused me more.

This is a picture of the entrelac market bag as of this morning. The red strip at the bottom will actually be the top of the bag, so I'm working the bag top-down. I've made it to the strip of red squares, and I think after the brown squares, I start making smaller squares to decrease toward the bottom of the bag.

Here's the entirety of the bag so far, along with a great shot of the new ironing board cover that I bought last night. It's purty.

You'll also be pleased to note that I have started the second raindrop lace sock. I had sock club Saturday morning and was able to cast on and start it then, in between helping one of my clubbers with a new cable sock pattern. Isn't it lovely? I know there's a long way to go, but the most important step is casting on. (Right? Isn't that a knitting proverb or something?)

Hmmm... was there anything else I was supposed to talk about today?

Oh yeah! The contest! This probably won't come as a big surprise to anyone, since our winner was the most diligent of anyone in spamming posting comments during this particular contest. Our winner even went back through old posts adding comments here and there in order to up the comment count! So, congratulations are due to

Trek!!!

for providing Chez Drunken Monkey with our 200th (and many others!) comment! Trek, please send your name and snail mail address along with your favorite STR colorway to brooketyler2002 (at) yahoo (dot) com. Your brand new sock yarn will be on its way by the end of the week! Congratulations!

And thanks to everyone who boosted the comment count. I feel very special! Keep up the commenting, and we'll have another comment contest when we start approaching 500 comments. I'll be sure to remind you then. Thanks, everybody!

Even More Conversation

I just have a few more shout-outs to make, and soon we'll be done. Besides, I left the camera in my purse in Anthony's car yesterday, so I couldn't take any pictures of the entrelac bag or anything else to show off today. You'll just have to look forward to all of my knitted goodness in a day or so.

Monica (Straight Shooter)
Hey, Monica! Way to be straightforward and go for the gold. I appreciate you commenting on my blog!

Bean (Mama to my favorite kids!)
Hey, Bean! You can use the comment section of my blog for any agenda that you feel is important. That's how much I care. I hope Grins got your message. I would post more comments on your blog, but #1) there aren't enough contests, and #2) I haven't seen the valentine's socks on your kidlets' feetsies yet, and I'm a little bitter about that. Okay, not really bitter, just anxious. Okay, not anxious either, just eager. Yeah! Eager. Oh, and I don't have your feet measurements, how am I supposed to make you socks? ;)

Nicole (Knitting Queen!)
Hey, Nicole! I just wanted everyone to know that I had to make a change to an earlier statement. I hereby declare that if Nicole wins my contest, I will knit her socks for her. I know what it is like to not have anyone knit anything for you.

Brenda (my own personal Knitting Sensei)
Hey, Brenda! You know, I really started to wonder why all of those fruit flies were constantly surrounding my yarn stash. I had pest control come in a number of times, but the fruit flies just kept coming back. At least they kept the moths at bay.
Yes, I'm really liking the entrelac bag. I like the colors, I like the variety of it, I like picking up stitches, and I'm eager to see what the bag will look like after it's felted. I've already pondered starting another one, and I have a pattern for some entrelac socks in my
book that I want to try, too. Whooda thunk it?

-----

By now you've probably figured out that no one has won the contest yet.

We're SO close!

Go
here, pick out your favorite colorway, then go comment! We'll have a winner tonight!

A Little More Conversation

Kimmy (Greedy Monkey)
Hi Kimmy! I'm sorry, but as a knitter, if you win, you must make your own socks. Branch out! Learn something new! You can do it! As for rules, the rules are as the rules are. As the owner and author of the blog, I can call you a greedy monkey and a cheater as often as I want. That's an unwritten rule. Oh wait, I guess it's written now. HA!

Joy (Greedy Monkey 2)
Hi Joyer! You're right! I do know how to make the commenters come out of the woodwork. Please tell Sam that I enjoy my visits with him, too! In fact, I can't wait to come taste all of your garden salady-goodness this summer.

Karen (
http://yearnsforyarn.blogspot.com)
Hi Karen! Thanks for commenting! I love all the socks on your blog. Very colorful and you have a wide variety! Keep up the good knitting!

Grins (Mom!)
Hi Grins! I would never infer that you are a non-person or an outcast because you don't knit. The only reason I singled you out is because I knew you'd need a super special prize if you won because you've expressed that you wouldn't like to wear handknit socks. And I'm okay with that, because I love you, too!

Trek (
http://trekcelt.blogspot.com/)
Hi Trek! I'm glad you like my kitty. She's very precious. Thanks also for the compliment on the Tychus hat! I don't know why that comment isn't listed anymore, but thanks for the compliment anyway! I love your quote about dragons. I'll have to keep my eyes open for your contest, too!

Nicole (Knitting Queen!)
Hi Nicole! Why in the world would I knit you a pair of socks when you could knit 85 pair in the time it takes me to knit a single sock? Silly! I can't wait to work with you tomorrow!

Carolyn (
http://bipurlerdisorder.blogspot.com/)
Hi Carolyn! Honestly, I don't know of any good entrelac help sites or resources. All I know is that it didn't work for me a few years ago, but it's working for me now. I guess your best bet might be to find a local yarn store or someone near you who has been successful with entrelac, and ask them to show you how it works. Seeing it in person will help immensely, methinks. Good luck with it. I can't wait to see some progress! (I LOVE your dragon vest! Gorgeous!)

Kate (Training BFF)
Hi Kate! You will always be a winner in my book, even though you haven't yet won my sock(yarn) contest. In fact, no one has won yet! Can you believe it? We are, however, 46% closer to a winner than we were yesterday!

Entre-what?

Chaka says "Hey!" from her new favorite perch. I'd always heard of cats sleeping on top of TVs, but never before had I seen it in person. Don't worry, I make sure the candle isn't lit when she's up there. The other kids say "Hey!" too, but I haven't snapped pictures of them lately. I'll have to work on it.

There's a new contest in the works, and this is the only time I'm going to mention it until after someone wins. So you'd better be paying attention.

Get it?!?! There's a NEW CONTEST!!!

Here are the details: Every time someone leaves a comment on my blog, Blogger sends me an email with the contents of the comment. I haven't deleted any of those comments for the sheer pleasure of knowing how many total comments I've had. The winner of this contest will be the person who posts the 200th comment on my blog. Yes, I am counting all the times I have responded in comments, because it hasn't been that many. No, I cannot win my own contest. I'm not going to tell you how many comments I currently have, but I will tell you that there are less than 50 comments to go before we hit the big 200.

The prize: The commenter who hits 200 will receive a prize based on his or her knitting status. If the winner is a knitter, he/she will receive a skein of Socks That Rock in his/her
favorite colorway. If the winner is a non-knitter, he/she will receive a pair of socks knitted (by me!) in his/her favorite colorway. Check out the site; there are a lot of beautiful skeins. If the winner is Grins, I'll come up with something different since she doesn't knit and won't wear knitted socks.

So comment away! As a reminder, this is the last time I'm going to mention the contest until someone wins. Good luck to everyone!

My newest project (photos soon, I promise!) is the Felted Market Bag from
Bags - A Knitter's Dozen. The crazy thing about this bag is that it's entirely made using the Entrelac technique. A few years ago I attempted Entrelac, failed miserably, and declared Entrelac to be something I would never again try. But then one of the other knitting instructors at the yarn store was working on this market bag, and then felted it, and brought it in, and I started feeling very curious, and now I'm making it. I'm into the second line of squares (photos soon, I promise!) and it's going very smoothly. This is definitely a project that will look much better after it's felted. I'm very excited!

What Happens In Vegas Stays in Vegas

And by "Vegas", I mean the yarn store.

And by "the yarn store", I mean I was there last night to hang out with Nicole.

And anything that may or may not have transpired there will stay there, forever silent in the dusty vaults of Montezuma. And undomesticated equines could not drag it out of me.

-----

Lately there has been a rash of extremely whiny demanding thought-provoking comments requesting this and that, and I wanted to take today to address them.

The first request has been for me to submit the pattern for
Maggie's cabled purse to Knitty. I have a number of reasons why I'm not going to do that. However, I've come up with an alternative plan that will hopefully make these whiny conscientious commenters happy. Soon (no telling when! Ha!) I will write out the pattern and put it with the Tychus pattern on my sidebar, so if someone wanted, they could print out the pattern and make the purse. Okay? Besides, there might be another pattern up there soon anyway.

The second request was for photos of newly-cast-on projects. While this is a terribly clever idea, I also have a number of reasons why I have yet to post said pictures. One of the two projects that I started over the weekend is going to be frogged and put away. I wasn't ever totally sure that it would remain a project. I didn't want to get anybody all excited about something that I wasn't sure was going to happen. I am looking out for your health and welfare. See how nice I am?

The other project I started is so far proving to be quite unphotogenic. The edges roll and I don't have enough fingers to hold down edges, keep stitches on needles, keep needles from poking out eyes, AND take pictures. So you'll just have to wait. I will tell you that this second project is the one made from sock yarn that isn't socks. (That's right. I'm going to frog a sock.
It isn't like it hasn't happened before.)

The bright spot in all of this is that I cast on yet another new project last night. It's for a potential class for the yarn store in the fall. I have to be successful with it first. However, and I know you'll get cranky, but life doesn't always hand you everything on a platter, now, does it? I don't have any pictures of it yet, and probably won't for a little while. Be patient, my pretties.

For Every Thing, Turn, Turn, Turn

A Time To Finish Projects

Way back before the knitting olympics, I wanted to finish four projects. Two projects were socks for the niece and nephew (and I'm still waiting for feetsie pictures...), one was Sadie's sweater, and one was this hat, Shedir, from Knitty. I was successful with the socks, finished the sweater one day post-Olympics (just in time for the tot's b-day!), and this weekend I finished this hat. I had to tink back almost two full rows so that I could fix my error. I completely misinterpreted the entire first decrease row on my first attempt (months ago), hadn't learned my Olympic lessons yet (shush you. and you.), and had thrown the project aside as a loss until I had time to get back to it. This weekend I did, and was greatly successful, and the hat has already been happily gifted. Check!

A Time To Start New Projects

With one project climbing off the needles this weekend, I thought it appropriate to cast on a couple more. Knitting logic at its best, I know. I'm not going to show you pictures, because you'll just get cranky at me for not finishing other projects (you know who you are), and you won't be able to celebrate with me in the delight of these wonderful new projects, both made of sock yarn, but not both socks. You will have to sit and stew in your discomfort and curiosity until such time as I deem appropriate to tell you about new (Wonderful! I'm SO excited!) projects.

A Time For New Yarn

This is my brand new Socks That Rock sock yarn, from Blue Moon Fiber Arts, in the Red Rock Canyon colorway. I picked up this yarn Friday morning (along with another skein, yet to be revealed) and drooled on it all day. I took it home and at some point, attempted to wind it.

A Time To Wind New Yarn

Take one skein of sock yarn (enough for two socks), one ball winder, one chair back, and one impatient yarn winder person, and you'll end up with a half of a ball of yarn, and a half of a skein's tangled mess. Work at it slowly, off and on, for a span of approximately 48 hours, and eventually you'll end up with a nice ball. It's amazing what you can do when you stay up until 6am (on a Sunday night, no less, when you KNOW you have to get up and go to work in the morning). I've discovered I'm much more patient around 4:00, 4:30 in the morning. Brenda, this pic is for you, since I know how much you know about my ability to be patient with tangled yarn. I must have wound and rewound this thing a dozen or more times, getting a little more untangled each time. I think when I pull out the other skein, I'm going to take it somewhere with a swift before trying to wind it. Touche, Socks That Rock... touche.

A Time To Show Pictures of In-Progress Projects That Sort of Look Like Bikinis But Are Actually Pieces of a Bag Made From Recycled Rayon That Joy Has Been Waiting To See Because Grins Got To See Them Already But Joy Hasn't Yet

Uh, this is a picture of an in-progress project that sort of looks like a bikini top, but is actually two pieces of a bag made from recycled rayon. Joy wanted to see the pieces, because she was jealous that Grins got to see them, but she hadn't yet. If that helps. I started the third piece this weekend.

A Time To End This Post So We Can All Get This Stinking Song Out Of Our Heads

Enough said.

Photographic Documentation

There sure have been a lot of prizes flying around knit-blogland lately... Olympic prizes (be they earned or not), comment prizes, contest prizes, and what have you, but I'll wager a guess that not many prize winners get to be first-hand witnesses of actual prize construction. I recently won one of the above-mentioned prizes, and I was fortunate enough not only to choose the prize I wanted, but also to be privy to the actual making and baking of that prize.

I know that you, my faithful blog readers, will be pleased to know that I was hip to be square enough to capture the excitement in a brief yet enthralling photo documentary.

I'll let Joy tell her side of the story, but this photo documents the flawless effort with which she employs her Pampered Chef cookie press. See the blurry action hand movement? See the beautiful identical cookie dough flowers? See the look of slightly-amused-yet-desperate concentration?

This photo is post-baking, and shows what I like to call the "drizzle factor". Let me tell you that a lot of effort went into making the chocolate drizzle-able. Any and all liquids found in the kitchen (although hopefully nothing that was under the sink) went into that chocolate to make it less chunky, more drizzly. And what a drizzle factor it was. See again the blurry action hand movement? See the beautiful drizzling chocolate? See the look of intense creativity and intricate drizzle-design?

And finally, a small sampling of the finished product. I had been concerned that I would have to take all of the cherry cordial cookies home with me... that there wouldn't be anyone in the Bennett household who would help me eat them. So I must give a thankful shout out to Scott and Sam, without whom I would have been forced to consume the entire batch by myself. As it is, I took about half of them home, where they shall be enjoyed with delight until the time comes when they exist no more.

Thanks, Joy, for a great prize and all the entertainment I could ask for!

-----

I have shamelessly stolen this photo from my sister-in-law's blog in order to show you the purse that I made for Maggie for Christmas. So my thanks and apologies go to Mrs. Frisk (you're doubly famous now!), Maggie (sweetest and cutest niece EVER!), and Morgan (sorry I stole the picture, but I'm giving you credit for it... PLUS I forgot to take a picture of the purse before I mailed it off for Christmas). I used two strands of orange Cotton Ease (by Lion Brand, now discontinued, which is totally unfair) size 8 needles, and a couple of my favorite cable braid patterns to make the bag. It has a braided handle and instead of sewing in the ends, I made two little tassels on the side. It's cooler than any other "chunky cable bag" pattern I've seen other places, and it was a super quick knit. It holds colored pencils and barettes and books and little toys and candy and just about anything else a three-year-old would want to take with her. I'm happy to see that she likes it! You can click on the photo to see a bigger version, if you like.

If The Sock Fits

And it does. I am today's official Cinderelly.

Tommy likey. Tommy want wingie.

Nice heel.

And... there wasn't much yarn left from that skein. My original plan had been to knit the foot as far as I could and finish the skein with the toe. I wasn't sure I could get it long enough for my enormous foot, but there was plenty to do so, and plenty left over for a future sock yarn experiment that is yet unnamed. So it's official, I can knit one sock for myself and one sock for my nephew out of one skein of Lorna's Laces. I wonder how long that will last.

So what should I cast on now? The other sock, you say? But... what fun is that? All kidding aside, I have been working on my Mango Moon bag... I have two pieces done! The good news with that one is that I'll be able to make the entire bag from the two skeins of Mango Moon that I already had and I won't have to buy more. Woo hoo! Sorry I don't have pictures of the pieces. Maybe I'll show you, maybe I won't. Who can tell?

New Friends, New Socks

I have a new friend. His name is Meekins. He is either a sheep or an albino monkey, or perhaps a cross-breed of the two. Regardless, he enjoys watching me knit and likes to protect me from sharp needle points protruding from my knitting bag.

I have been knitting. A little here and a little there. I've been working on my raindrop lace socks and a new project that is potentially for my aunt. I've been building my right arm muscles by winding every stray ball of yarn I can find with my new ballwinder. I've been working on my Mango Moon bag and I have almost two pieces (out of four) complete! There just really isn't any exciting progress worth photographing at this point. Maybe next week. I feel like I've been working a lot of hours and not getting a lot of knitting progress done.

Wendy (from sock club) was wearing these socks last week that she got from Kim (from sock club) as a gift. And I decided that I needed some, so I asked about them, and today I got some. Yay for Knitting Girl socks! There were only three pair left at Dillards, and I bought these, and Kimmy (from work) bought the third pair. I love them! I think I might wear them every day.
